Gerdau is currently seeking a Rebar Fabricator for its Sayreville, NJ facility
Position Summary
Responsible for providing effective customer service to Gerdau customers through accurate and efficient rebar fabrication. This job primarily consists of handling, and operating machinery that bends and cuts, reinforcing rebar rods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operates all reinforcing rebar bending, shearing, and crane equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Performs required before-, during-, and after-operation inspections and reports any maintenance or safety issues to supervisor.
3. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Thorough knowledge rebar bending, shearing and overhead crane equipment.
2. Ability to operate the above machinery in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
3. Ability to accurately count, measure, and perform basic math operations.
4. Ability to work both independently and as a part of team.
Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
2. A minimum of 1 or more year(s) experience as a material handler, machine operator or previous rebar fabrication experience.
5. Must present a dependable attendance history.
6. Must demonstrate a commitment to safety
Physical Demands
Light to Heavy. Must be able to lift 55 lbs to pick up truck bed height on a regular basis. Must be able to stand, sit, grip, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch and walk for extended periods.
Normal Work Schedule
Typically five (5) day work week with work scheduled on weekends and before/after normal business hours as necessary.
Work Environment
Production facility is an outdoor environment. As such, this position includes prolonged work in non-heated or non-air conditioned environments.
Personal Protective Equipment
Safety shoes, hard hats, hearing and eye protection must be worn at all times. Additional personal protective equipment as required.
