Gerdau is currently seeking an Electronic Technician for its Sayreville, NJ facility.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Work involves a wide range of diversified and complex duties, including: installation, modification and repair of electrical and electronic equipment and controls, requiring much care to effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and monitor highly automatic micro processing equipment.
Have a strong understanding of operating systems and software packages used in the P.L.C. systems as required in order to bypass problem circuits and restore operations. The individual should be also capable of performing program changes when necessary.
More complex programming changes are accomplished by maintenance engineering staff.
Checks and calibrates plant instrumentation; routinely checks rolling mill, reheat furnace, and melt shop electronic systems; plans and assists facilitators with program changes in plant programmable logic controls.
Works closely with engineers and maintenance facilitators in planning systematic maintenance of electronic systems and instrumentation.
Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic controls and systems requires a thorough working knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems and components and how they operate.
Provides technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel as needed.

Qualifications
5
years of experience as an Electronic Technician/Industrial Electrician within a manufacturing/heavy industrial environment required
Experience of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems for manufacturing including High Speed Equipment required
Siemens, Allen Bradley experience preferred
AC/DC drives maintaining & troubleshooting
Bachelor's OR AS degree preferred, HS Diploma or GED minimal requirement
Medium - high voltage experience preferred
Heavy industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods a plus
Needs experience with MS software such as Excel.
